“Banned” Drink is the Key to a Longer Life
People will do ANYTHING if it promises to help them live longer.
The juice cleanses (no thanks).
The garlic diets (no thanks).
The crazy enemas (really, no thanks).
But there is one thing that has been scientifically proven to help you add years to your life.
It’s a drink your doctor may have “banned” a long time ago.
But I drink it every day. And if you want to live a long, healthy life, you should, too.
It turns out the fountain of youth is filled with my favorite beverage: coffee.
Yep, that same coffee that so many seniors have been told to avoid.
In a study just published in JAMA Internal Medicine, researchers analyzed over 500,000 people to evaluate how factors like smoking, drinking, family medical history – and yes, coffee drinking – impacted longevity.
Their conclusion?
People who drank coffee were about 15% less likely to die than non-coffee drinkers.
It didn’t matter how much they drank, whether it was caffeinated or decaffeinated, or ground vs. instant.
The important factor was simply to drink the beverage.
This study confirms another study from last year showing that people who drink 3 to 4 cups of coffee per day reduced their risk of an early death.
And plenty of other studies have shown coffee’s long and varied list of health benefits, including lowering the risk of type 2 diabetes, depression, Parkinson’s, heart disease, cancer, and more.
With health benefits like these, it only makes sense that coffee could help you live longer.
If you dropped coffee from your daily routine a long time ago, it may be time to bring it back.
It could be one of the best things you can do for your health.
To a brighter day,
Dr. Richard Gerhauser, M.D.
