The BEST Exercise for Heart Patients (Easy!)
If you already have heart problems, you’ve probably been told to exercise.
But how much exercise is too much?
I can understand not wanting to overdo it. But the reality is, the better your fitness, the less your risk of mortality after having a cardiovascular event.
Fortunately, a new study identified a particular form of exercise that can provide significant cardiovascular and muscular benefits for heart patients.
This study involved patients with coronary artery disease who had undergone a cardiac procedure. Such as a coronary bypass or a stent. They were divided into two groups.
- One did moderate-intensity exercise.
- The other did vigorous stair climbing.
Both groups increased their cardiorespiratory fitness after just four weeks (and they experienced muscular improvement as well!).
Heart patients have compromised heart muscles, but analysis of their muscle taken during exercise showed that these heart patients can repair and even rebuild their damaged heart muscles.
Heart patients clearly benefit from exercise, but many people skip it because of lack of time or equipment, or because they think they need to join a gym.
This study showed that something as simple as climbing stairs is not only safe for heart patients, but offers a fast, free way to boost their heart health.
So, don’t be afraid to get out and get moving, even if it’s just going up and down the steps in your home.
