Common Drink Increases Deadly Risk 85%
If you ask me, the average American may as well have a sugar IV hooked up to them.
They scarf down 34 teaspoons of the stuff every single day. That’s more than 100 pounds of sugar every year!
It’s no wonder everyone is so sick.
But now, new research has revealed another startling risk.
And this time, it could LITERALLY KILL you!
Sugary drinks are often the worst offenders. Think sodas, energy drinks, and syrup-sweetened coffee drinks.
But if you’re a woman with a sweet tooth, you could be risking more than cavities and weight gain by ingesting all that sugar…
You could be destroying your liver and increasing your risk of liver cancer.
Researchers followed nearly 100,000 postmenopausal women for 20 years.
Those who consumed one or more servings daily of a sugar-sweetened beverage had a significantly (more like astronomically) higher risk of liver cancer and chronic liver disease than women who drank them less than once a week.
How high?
- An 85 percent higher risk of liver cancer.
- A 68 percent higher risk of dying from chronic liver disease.
The connection between sugar consumption and liver issues remained even after controlling obesity. In other words, the risk was there whether folks were overweight or not.
Now keep in mind this was an observational study. That means it establishes correlation, not causation.
But that’s enough for me to want to take better care of my liver.
There are plenty of ways to do that.
But you can start by ditching the soft drinks and cutting WAY down on your sugar intake.
P.S. While gulping down sugar-filled soft drinks can HARM your liver, sipping on ANOTHER delicious beverage can SHIELD it.
