The Forbidden Food Diabetics Should Eat Every Day
If you’re diabetic or pre-diabetic, you know there are certain foods you CAN’T have.
We typically talk about the cakes and pastries, but most doctors will also have you swearing off healthier foods like fruit because of their sugar content.
But as usual, that advice is short-sited.
Because it fails to account for the protective nutrients that come in these tiny sweet packages.
In fact, there’s one fruit in particular that can actually IMPROVE your blood sugar.
Red raspberries have always been a favorite of mine. Especially when you pick them straight from the raspberry bush.
It makes my mouth water just thinking about eating them by the messy handful.
Maybe you have a memory like that as well. But if you’re suffering from diabetes or prediabetes, you’ve probably been told that that’s all raspberries (or any fruit for that matter) will ever be… a memory.
But I’ve got great news for you today.
If you have prediabetes, the more raspberries the better.
That’s because, according to a recent study published in the journal Obesity, eating raspberries can actually LOWER your blood sugar!
For the study, adults between 20 and 60 years old ate meals that consisted of no raspberries, one cup, or two cups of raspberries. They did this for three days and had their blood tested after each meal.
You would think that the more raspberries they ate, the higher their blood sugar would be.
But the exact opposite was true!
It turns out that those who ate the most raspberries had the lowest glucose concentrations and needed the least amount of insulin to manage their blood sugar.
Yes, fruit has sugar, but it also has protective components like anthocyanins that have strong anti-diabetic actions.
And that means raspberries are one sweet treat you should be eating – guilt–free – every day.
