Hidden Depression Trigger Puts YOU at Risk
When you battle depression, it’s easy to feel like you’re the only person who has ever felt this way. (Spoiler alert, you’re not.)
The truth is, depression is shockingly common. In a room with a dozen people, count on at least two folks in the group dealing with the condition.
But the antidepressant drugs typically used to treat it are surprisingly ineffective. And there’s a simple reason for that. They miss the forest for the trees.
Because the solution isn’t to develop yet another drug. It’s to get to the ROOT CAUSE of the depression.
That’s when the TRUE healing can begin.
And now scientists say they’ve uncovered a disturbing new risk factor for depression.
Let’s face it, depression turns your life upside down. But so does another common condition… type 2 diabetes.
And surprisingly, scientists now say BOTH of these diseases share a common risk factor: Insulin resistance.
Your pancreas reacts to high blood sugar levels by pumping out insulin. The hormone instructs your cells to absorb the sugar for fuel.
But over time, your cells can stop reacting to insulin’s messages the way they should. This means they’ve become insulin resistant.
Your body responds by having the pancreas pump out MORE insulin to compensate.
Eventually, the overworked organ can’t keep up. Your blood sugar levels rise, and you’re on the fast track to type 2 diabetes — and depression.
Researchers recruited 600 people with no history of depression or anxiety to study this link.
They found that those who developed prediabetes at the two-year mark were more than TWO TIMES as likely to experience depression at the nine-year mark compared to folks with normal blood glucose levels.
You already know what kind of havoc high blood sugar levels wreak on the body, from kidney issues to heart disease. But the research revealed that this damage extends to your MIND as well.
Don’t gamble with your health. If your doctor has diagnosed you with insulin resistance or prediabetes, the time to get your blood sugar under control is NOW.
P.S. If you have insulin resistance, you’re one step away from type 2 diabetes. Losing weight and exercising will reduce your risk. But researchers have identified ANOTHER way to stave off the disease… and this one might be the easiest yet. Click here for the secret.
