Lightening Fast Botanical Brain Boost
Before I get started on today’s topic, on this Memorial Day I’d like to take a moment to reflect on the tremendous courage and devotion of those warriors who have laid down their lives to protect our freedoms and way of life. Their legacy will never be forgotten.
Last week, I told you about a superfood that can dramatically improve memory and brain function.
It was an impressive study, but there was just one problem… the individuals were tracked for YEARS to determine this effect.
Sometimes, when you need a brain boost, you need it NOW.
For a more immediate brain pick-me-up, try THIS instead.
Researchers wanted to know what the amino acid L-theanine (found in various plant foods, including mushrooms and black tea) would have on brain function.
For this small study, the memory and attention span of 69 people were evaluated before the intervention, after a single dose of l-theanine, and after 12 weeks.
Incredibly, there was a measurable difference in cognitive factors like memory and attention after just one dose—and the gains were sustained or grew over time.
These improvements included…
- reduced reaction time when given a task measuring attention,
- increased correct answers on a test, and
- decreased errors on tasks testing working memory.
Earlier research found that taking L-theanine just before testing can reduce the number of mistakes you make on the test.
Now, you may not be taking a test anytime soon. However, there will still be times when you want to be on your A-game… like at an important church event, giving a presentation at a local community organization, or even a meeting with your monthly book club.
Whatever your situation, L-theanine could give you just the boost your brain needs to be at its peak… right now.
P.S. WARNING: This popular diet can lead to brain drain.
