“Magic Mineral” SLASHES Blood Sugar Levels
Whether you have type 2 diabetes or not, high blood sugar levels wreak havoc on your body.
One of the biggest complications is that can damage the blood vessels that supply blood to your vital organs.
This is why chronic high blood sugar can lead to heart disease and stroke, kidney disease, and vision and nerve problems.
Fortunately, there’s a “magic” mineral that’s essential for managing your blood sugar levels.
The mineral magnesium has lots of important functions in your body.
In the past, I’ve told you about how it can help with migraines, heart health, fractures, acid reflux, and more.
Magnesium is also involved in managing your insulin levels and carbohydrate metabolism — and it’s been shown to help manage blood sugar in diabetics and non-diabetics alike.
Studies have shown that not consuming enough magnesium is connected to poorer blood sugar regulation and a higher risk of type 2 diabetes.
Yet people with the highest intake of magnesium tend to have a lower risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
A review of 18 studies that included both type 2 diabetics and those at risk of diabetes, taking 250-450 mg of magnesium per day for anywhere from 6-24 weeks significantly reduced fasting blood sugar levels.
And in a study of 54 people with diabetes, taking 300 mg of magnesium every day for 12 weeks significantly lowered fasting blood sugar levels AND after-meal blood sugar levels!
Most people consume far too much sugar, which means your pancreas is working overtime to produce the insulin necessary to remove it from your bloodstream.
In addition to cutting back on how much sugar you’re eating (and drinking), increase your intake of magnesium by eating more foods like avocados, nuts, and fatty fish, or by taking a supplement.
When it comes to managing our blood sugar levels, we need all the help we can get.
