Mailbag! Underground Oil Erases Anxiety
Q: My daughter has anxiety issues. We have been investigating CBD oil for a while, but are confused about one thing: Is there one CBD oil for anxiety, another variety for pain, etc. Or does it come "one size fits all?”
-Larry P.
Dr. G: I don’t blame you for being confused.
Our government spent years driving medical cannabis products like cannabidiol (CBD) oil underground.
Now CBD oil is legal in some form in most states – but lots of folks still don’t know how to use it.
But the short answer to your question is this: CBD is essentially one-size-fits-all (although you will see some differences in terms of brands, dosages, or delivery methods).
That’s part of what makes it so great—the fact that one simple compound can have such a wide range of health benefits.
Just to be clear, CBD is the non-psychoactive component in marijuana, meaning it won’t make you high.
It’s usually sold as an oil that you place under your tongue, but you can also get it in a capsule, as a topical, as a spray, or even as a vape cartridge.
I consider the oil to be the purest form, but some people are turned off by this delivery method because it can be messy.
Capsules are easy to take, but they generally come in 10-25 mg doses, whereas the dosage of the oil can range from 100 mg to 1,000 mg.
Sprays are convenient, but they come in the smallest concentration, plus it can be difficult to determine exactly how much you’re getting.
If you’re new to CBD, it’s a good idea to work with a knowledgeable medical professional that can point you in the right direction and give you dosing recommendations.
When you’re taking the optimal amount of CBD, studies show that it can help alleviate mood disorders like anxiety and depression. It offers relief from all sorts of pain—including arthritis, migraines, irritable bowel syndrome, neuropathic pain, and fibromyalgia.
It’s also been shown to kill BOTH estrogen-receptor-positive and estrogen-receptor-negative breast cancer cells, and has been shown to be effective in battling glioma (a type of brain cancer), prostate cancer, lung cancer, and more.
I encourage you to talk to your doctor about this completely natural, safe, drug-free option that can help so many different health problems.
