Miracle Foods Help Diabetics LIVE LONGER
Like I’ve said before, my gold standard for whether or not a treatment works is whether or not it can help you live longer.
Using this simple metric means that lots of common drugs –like statins and aspirin – just don’t measure up.
But according to new research, there’s a dead-simple and delicious way to extend your life.
In fact, it can lower your risk of death from any cause… and your risk of dying from heart disease…. even if you already have type 2 diabetes.
Diet and diabetes go hand in hand.
What you eat (or don’t eat) will influence factors like your blood sugar levels, inflammation, and your risk for complications.
But it turns out that adding more of a certain type of nutrient can actually help you live longer.
I’m talking about polyunsaturated fatty acids or PUFAs.
PUFAs are broken down into two classes of fats that you hear me talk about all the time: omega-3s and omega-6s. And you can get them from foods like salmon, tuna, herring, flaxseed, and walnuts.
For this study published in The BMJ, researchers looked at the health records of over 11,000 type 2 diabetics who were involved in the Nurse’s Health Study or the Health Professionals Follow-up Study.
They found that the people in the highest quartile of PUFA intake had a 26% lower risk of dying from any cause whatsoever, and a 39% lower risk of dying from heart disease.
These benefits remained even after they took into account factors like age, gender, and family history.
Breaking the results down even further, they found those in the highest quartile of marine PUFA intake had a 29% lower risk of all-cause mortality, and a 31% risk of cardiovascular mortality.
While those who got most of their PUFA from plants (linolenic acid) experienced a 19% reduction in all-cause mortality, but no reduced risk of dying from cardiovascular disease.
This is yet one more reason to make sure you’re getting a couple of servings of salmon every week. I know I am!

When it comes to autoimmune disorders, the location of the attack determines the disease. If your immune system attacks your joints… rheumatoid arthritis. Mainstream medicine addresses each autoimmune disease with a different drug… none of...

Maintaining muscle mass as you get older isn’t about looking good in your swim trunks or impressing ladies at the gym (although that never hurts). Instead, it’s about being able to climb the stairs… open spaghetti sauce jars… and walk with steadiness and confidence. In other words, it’s about maintaining your independence. But instead of...
Navigating prostate cancer is like going through a maze filled with land mines. Should you watch and wait? Have aggressive surgery to remove the tumor? Undergo radiation? All options come with risks, but some are worse than others. Now, a recent study has revealed that one particular treatment for prostate cancer has a risk no...
They say that nothing is certain but death and taxes… But I have one more thing to add to the list: the side effects of Big Pharma’s drug. Every time you pop a pill, you’re trading a potential benefit for a definite risk – especially when it comes to anti-cancer drugs. But what if there...
If you ever smoked in your life, chances are you’re paying the price now. Years of inhaling toxic smoke really do a number on your lungs. You can’t take a deep breath… you get out of breath easily… and you’re just plain tired all the time. And don’t get me started on that nagging cough. ...
Let’s face it: No one wants to lose their mind. Not having control over your own body, forgetting the people you love most, and losing all sense of self is a scary prospect for anyone.
