Nutrient Targets the TOP 12 Hallmarks of Aging
All sorts of factors can accelerate your trip down the road to aging and disease—like chronic stress, inflammation, smoking, pollution, junk food, pesticides, being sedentary, and more.
These things impact key pathways that age your body faster by triggering processes like cellular senescence, dysbiosis, stem cell exhaustion, and beyond.
However, one nutrient can influence the TOP 12 hallmarks of aging.
The only problem?
You’re probably deficient in it.
It’s estimated that up to 44 percent of seniors are vitamin D deficient.
And that’s a problem, ESPECIALLY if you want to fight off the ravages of aging.
I bet you already know that vitamin D helps strengthen your bones.
You may have even heard that it can reduce your risk of diseases like cancer, heart disease, and type 2 diabetes or help regulate mood and reduce depression.
As incredible as all those benefits are, they get even better because vitamin D has a beneficial impact on 12 critical pathways in your body that contribute to aging.
Vitamin D…
- has antioxidant functions that protect against genomic instability (the increasing tendency of DNA to mutate during cell division)
- influences whether specific genes are turned on or off, especially ones involved in inflammation and immune function
- may help maintain proper protein balance in the body
- helps your cells properly respond to nutrients
- supports the proper cleanup of damaged cells
- reduces cellular senescence (when a cell ages and permanently stops dividing but doesn’t die)
- fights mitochondrial dysfunction
- helps maintain stem cell function
- reduces markers of inflammation
- decreases harmful bacteria in the gut
- may help guard intracellular communication
- is associated with longer telomeres and, as a result, longer life
The BEST way to get your vitamin D is to spend more time in the sun. Unfortunately, for some, that might still not be enough.
Next week, I’ll tell you about a new approach to ensuring your D levels are high enough to fight back against ALL of these pathways to aging.
P.S. Also, for more ideas on keeping your telomeres nice and long, look for the June issue of my Natural Health Response newsletter. In it, I share even more key strategies for fighting this major factor in aging and disease.
