Purple Power Smoothie Tackles Arthritis Pain
If you deal with arthritis pain on a daily basis, you might be tempted to drink the pain away.
To that I say, great!
Just don’t do it with alcohol.
Sure, you might get some temporary relief. But ultimately, alcohol’s inflammatory effects can actually make joint pain WORSE.
Instead, I have a beverage option that can do the opposite.
This drink can reduce symptoms of arthritis by reducing inflammation.
Giving you real, effective, lasting relief.
If you’re dealing with any kind of arthritis pain, you’re feeling the effects of out-of-control inflammation.
To tame the inflammation—and the pain—try drinking a POWER smoothie.
The first key ingredient in this smoothie is blueberries.
One study showed that eating freeze-dried blueberries every day for four months reduced pain, stiffness, and difficulty performing everyday tasks in people with knee osteoarthritis.
The secret to the blueberry’s success is that it’s loaded with special plant chemicals called anthocyanins. Anthocyanins are super-antioxidants because they gobble up a higher amount of damaging free radicals.
They’re like Pack-Men with extra lives!
Studies show that anthocyanins help reduce inflammation in joint tissue.
Blueberries also contain malvidin-3-glucoside. This special plant compound has shown to be a natural anti-inflammatory as well.
In one study, rheumatoid arthritis patients listed the foods that improved their arthritis pain. Blueberries were at the top of the list. Second was spinach.
That’s why I recommend tossing a hefty handful of spinach into your power smoothie as well.
Like blueberries, spinach can help alleviate arthritis symptoms by lowering inflammation.
In particular, spinach contains kaempferol, a natural flavonol that’s been shown to reduce inflammatory compounds associated with arthritis.
Here’s what you’ll need to make your inflammation-busting power smoothie:
- 1 cup of liquid (milk, almond milk, or water)
- 1 cup of frozen blueberries
- 1 big handful of spinach
- Ice
Blend until smooth. Of course, you can add in any extras you want, like protein powder, chia seeds, avocado, or bananas.
P.S. Purple foods like blueberries aren’t just terrific at fighting off the inflammation behind painful arthritis. Anthocyanin-rich produce can help protect you from head to toe… improving everything from blood pressure to brain function.
