REVERSE Diabetes and Heart Disease WITHOUT Losing a Single Pound!
Metabolic syndrome is a big health problem that’s been sneaking up on people in recent years.
It’s a cluster of symptoms that will be all too familiar to too many people: abdominal fat, high triglycerides, low HDL (good) cholesterol, and high blood pressure and fasting blood sugar.
Any one of these issues could spell a problem for your health. But together, they send your risk of type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and stroke through the roof.
You’ve likely been told that in order to help combat metabolic syndrome, you have to lose weight.
Well, a new study proves you can REVERSE metabolic syndrome… and SLASH your risk of developing more dangerous diseases… without losing a single pound.
Here’s how.
Past studies find that it’s possible to improve metabolic syndrome by following a low-carb diet.
The problem with those studies was that, because the participants lost weight following this program, the researchers never knew for sure if the improvements were the result of the weight loss… or from cutting out the carbs.
To settle the debate, researchers put individuals with metabolic syndrome on either a high, moderate, or low carb (keto) diet. All of the diets contained about the same amount of calories.
Interestingly, the low-carb group ended up consuming a lot of fat in order to make sure they didn’t lose any weight.
Despite the high amount of calories… and despite the high-fat content in the diet… following the low-carb diet led to improvements in triglyceride, cholesterol, and blood sugar levels. The participants also become more efficient at burning fat.
And in fact, following the low carb diet actually REVERSE metabolic syndrome in a number of the individuals.
These people all had an average body fat percentage of over 40%… yet they were able to drastically reduce their risk of type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and stroke without losing a single pound.
Most doctors would tell you that’s impossible. Obviously not!
Now, I’m not saying that it’s not beneficial to lose weight. I could write an entire book on the benefits for your body and your mind.
But for those individuals who have tried to lose weight (and failed), or for those who simply don’t want to… it’s encouraging to know that you can drastically improve your health simply by cutting out the carbs.
One final thought. The individuals had to eat a TON of fat to keep their weight up after cutting out carbs.
But they ended up with LESS saturated fat in their bloodstream. The size of their cholesterol particles was also larger, a beneficial effect that lowers your risk of heart disease.
So according to this study, a high-fat diet actually reduces your risk of heart disease!
