Reverse prediabetes with lifestyle changes and THIS nutrient
Don’t let prediabetes fool you.
The “pre” part can make it seem like it’s no big deal and you’re not at risk yet.
But that’s a dangerous misconception.
Prediabetes is a serious health condition. It not only puts you at risk for diabetes but also increases your risk of long-term damage to your heart, blood vessels, and kidneys—all before you have an official type 2 diabetes diagnosis.
So if you’re in this boat, you should do everything in your power to hit REVERSE on your diagnosis.
Lifestyle changes such as limiting sugars and carbs, as well as daily exercise make a BIG difference.
But in addition, researchers say there’s a simple nutrient that everyone with prediabetes NEEDS to know about.
In a recent study, researchers evaluated three clinical trials that included over 4,000 folks with prediabetes who were followed for three years.
After crunching all the numbers, they found that prediabetics who took vitamin D supplements were 15 percent less likely to progress to type 2 diabetes during that three-year window than those not taking the supplement.
The doses of vitamin D varied in each study. But ultimately, the amount you need will vary based on your individual levels anyway.
The MOST critical finding was the vitamin D blood levels needed in order to reduce the risk of progressing to type 2 diabetes. And those were between 125-150 nmol/L (or 50-60 ng/mL).
Ask your doctor about getting tested to check your current levels.
Vitamin D alone won’t prevent you from getting type 2 diabetes.
But when you add it to other known ways of reducing your risk, you’ll give yourself a leg up in your battle against this dangerous and deadly disease.
Ultimately, the best lifestyle changes you can make include:
- losing weight
- increasing your physical activity
In fact, research reveals you only need to lose five to seven percent of your body weight and exercise 150 minutes a week (five 30-minute sessions) to SLASH the risk of prediabetes progressing to diabetes by 58 percent.
And if you’re over 60, those SAME efforts lead to a 71 percent reduction in risk.
P.S. Ditch drastic dieting with these 3 blood sugar busters.
