Surgery-Free Solution for Breast Cancer
When it comes to cancer, your first goal should always be to PREVENT it.
But if you do end up facing a diagnosis, it’s good to know your options. Personally, I always want to know the least invasive way to have the best success rate.
There’s one science-backed procedure most folks have never heard of that doesn’t involve “slash and burn” surgery, chemo, or radiation.
And new research reveals it’s remarkably effective for invasive breast cancer.
For this study, researchers evaluated the effectiveness of a treatment called image-guided cryoablation in treating invasive breast cancers in women who weren’t able to undergo surgery.
This treatment involves using imaging to insert a needle through the skin and directly into the tumor. The tumor is then frozen, which kills the cancer cells.
Forty-eight of the women had invasive ductal carcinoma, and five had invasive lobular carcinoma with tumors ranging in size from .3 centimeters to 9 centimeters.
At the 16-month mark, there was only a 10 percent recurrence rate.
This is a remarkable finding, especially for women who could not undergo a lumpectomy or mastectomy. But it’s also an exciting option for women who want a less invasive procedure.
Of course, the “standard of care” is still to undergo surgery whenever possible.
However, this procedure’s success rate and less invasive nature make it an intriguing choice that’s worth discussing with your doctor.
P.S. Don’t miss these seven often overlooked breast cancer signs.
