The 6 Stress-Busting Supplements You Need
Don’t underestimate the power of stress.
It takes control of your mind, body, and emotions—often leaving you feeling powerless in its wake.
And after two-plus years of dealing with COVID-19, people are more stressed than ever before.
Fortunately, there are plenty of powerful, effective ways to manage stress.
And today, I’m going to tell you about a few targeted supplements that can help lower your stress levels and calm your racing brain.
B Vitamins
If you’re feeling stressed, you should start taking B vitamins right now.
Supplementing with vitamin B can help reduce both general stress and work-related stress. That’s likely because it reduces levels of the stress hormone, cortisol.
Vitamin C
Vitamin C does more than boost your immune system. It can also protect your body against the effects of stress.
Animals studies have shown that vitamin C can reduce how much cortisol your body releases after being stressed, controlling how stressed you feel. It effectively shuts stress off at the biochemical source.
Omega-3 Fatty Acids
Omega-3s have also been shown to lower cortisol levels. In a study of nurses, taking omega-3s helped keep their cortisol levels low, especially in the morning (when levels are usually higher).
L-theanine
L-theanine works from the other side of the coin. Instead of reducing your stress hormone, it boosts levels of neurotransmitters that help you feel happy and content (such as serotonin and dopamine).
Taking l-theanine for four weeks has been shown to reduce stress-related symptoms.
Magnesium
Magnesium has been shown to help control the hormones that make you feel stressed, including both cortisol and ACTH (which regulates cortisol).
In one study, taking magnesium lowered stress levels by up to 40 percent.
Ashwagandha
This supplement has a long history of use in Ayurvedic medicine because of its role in bringing balance to the body.
Modern studies have shown that taking ashwagandha for eight weeks reduces levels of stress and anxiety (and also lowers cortisol levels).
P.S. There’s a new “super coffee” that can help BOOST your mood, reduce stress and even strengthen your immune and protect your brain. Click here to learn about it.
