The Most Dangerous Antibiotic You Can Take [Urgent Warning]
You go to the doctor with a case of bronchitis… or maybe a wound that got infected and has been slow to heal.
The next thing you know, you’re leaving with a prescription for antibiotics.
You don’t think anything of it… antibiotics are supposed to be the “safe” drugs, killing the bacteria that are making you sick.
But this is the moment you need to stop, friend… and look at that prescription VERY closely.
Because a certain class of antibiotics is now proving to be some of the most dangerous drugs around.
They can be so harmful that doctors even developed a term for when people are hurt by them.
And two new studies are sounding a serious alarm.
They BOTH linked these drugs to potentially life-threatening complications… including one that can kill you in minutes.
The first fluoroquinolone antibiotics started hitting the market in America in the 1980s.
And it wasn’t too long after that when doctors started using the term “getting floxed.”
It’s inside, dark medical humor… but it’s not funny to me.
You see, these fluoroquinolones all have “flox” in their names… like Ciprofloxacin, Levofloxacin, and Ofloxacin.
And so many people were being harmed by these drugs that the medical community developed a term for it – getting floxed.
You see, we’ve known for years that fluoroquinolones can harm tendons, ligaments, and other tissues by altering blood supply and disrupting the formation of collagen.
Now, we know those complications could be deadly…
A massive study out of Taiwan published in April of this year looked at more than 230,000 people who took fluoroquinolones… and an equal number who didn’t.
The results were undeniable – the folks who took fluoroquinolones had a 62% higher risk of suffering an aortic aneurysm or dissection.
I know that sounds bad… and, boy, is it. I’ll explain more in a moment…
But first… defenders of fluoroquinolones might try to argue that this was just one study (even though it was a MASSIVE one).
Well, not so fast…
Because ANOTHER study out of Germany published in September found that patients who took fluoroquinolones had a 56% higher chance of an aortic aneurysm or dissection.
Friend, these were two separate studies… on different continents.. that produced nearly IDENTICAL results.
So let’s be really clear about what these drugs are being linked to…
An aortic aneurysm is when your aorta – the largest artery in your body – develops a bulge. And if that bulge bursts, it can kill you… maybe before you even reach the hospital.
An aortic dissection is when a tear happens in the inner layer of your aorta. That can kill you, too.
In fact, an aortic dissection is what killed the TV star John Ritter.
The evidence couldn’t be clearer. Fluoroquinolones are a real threat to our ligaments, tendons, and even our arteries.
And it’s a threat that could turn deadly.
If you’re ever prescribed a fluoroquinolones (remember, you can tell because they all have “flox” in their names), talk to your doctor about safer alternatives.
That simple conversation just may prevent a tragedy.
