The Spice That Spells Indigestion Relief
It’s no secret that I’m not a fan of proton pump inhibitors (PPIs).
These drugs are known to increase your risk of stroke, kidney failure, Alzheimer’s, and early death.
And the truth is, you shouldn’t have to risk your life for indigestion relief.
Fortunately, there’s a natural treatment for indigestion that works JUST AS WELL as a common PPI… but with NONE of the risks.
Curcumin is the active component found in the spice turmeric.
Its main claim to fame is its powerful anti-inflammatory properties. And, since inflammation is a factor in most major diseases, it’s no surprise that curcumin is effective against pain, arthritis, depression, metabolic syndrome, and more.
But now, we can add indigestion to this list.
In a recent study, researchers put curcumin to the test in a head-to-head test against the PPI omeprazole (Prilosec OTC) in people suffering from functional indigestion.
This means the indigestion wasn’t caused by an ulcer or acid reflux.
After 28 days and 56 days, BOTH groups reported significant improvements in their indigestion.
The main difference?
Instead of increasing your risk of health problems, curcumin helps resolve them by taming the fires of inflammation.
If you need some temporary relief, curcumin could be a good option.
However, an even better way to tackle indigestion is to get to the root of what’s causing it in the first place.
This can include diet changes like avoiding spicy or greasy foods or carbonated beverages. It could also mean lifestyle changes such as chewing slowly, eating smaller meals, and not eating late at night.
