This Fake “Health” Food Boosts Heart Risk 46%
‘Tis the season… for plenty of eating.
Between holiday parties and gatherings with family and friends, we all eat well this time of year.
But, maybe, like lots of folks, you’ll try to offset some of those Christmas cookies, pies, and stuffing by working some “healthy” foods into the mix.
But before you do, there’s something you should know…
Some of the most common foods being marketed as “healthy” could be pure poison for your heart.
In fact, they may send your risk of heart disease skyrocketing by 46%.
Food manufacturers love to throw “plant-based” on their labels… and with just two words, try to convince you that their food is healthy.
Well, poison ivy, hemlock, and tobacco are all plant-based, too.
The problem is that ultra-processed plant-based foods – like plant-based meat or snack foods – have all of their nutrients stripped out. And they have plenty of chemicals added in.
The end result? They’re just as poisonous for your body as any other ultra-processed food.
A new study out of France tracked 63,000 adults for nine years. The people who ate the most plant-based ultra-processed foods were 46% more likely to develop coronary artery disease.
Just think about that for a second…
The main reason many people turn to plant-based foods is that they believe this stuff is good for their hearts. Meanwhile, these fraud “health” foods are sending your heart disease risk through the roof.
Now, the problem isn’t plants themselves. Foods like fruits and vegetables are loaded with vitamins, minerals, and other compounds essential for our health.
In fact, the people who ate raw or minimally-processed plant foods cut their heart risk dramatically.
The problem is the ultra-processing, and the preservatives, dyes, and other chemical soups that get added to our foods.
I’m sure you remember that old Ralph Nader book from the 1960s, “Unsafe At Any Speed.” Well, ultra-processed foods are unsafe at any amount – and it doesn’t matter if they are plant-based or not.
One of the easiest ways to avoid them is to follow the Paleo diet, like I do. It focuses on real foods, like meats, fruits, vegetables, and nuts that are caveman ancestors would have eaten.
It can keep you safe from ultra-processed foods… and deceptive food labeling.
