The secret ingredient for feeling fuller, longer

Now that the holidays are behind us, there’s something ahead of us… dropping those “Christmas cookie” pounds.

Sure, you can try to overhaul your diet or cut back on portion sizes.

But I have an easier idea…

It involves adding a simple, healthy food to your diet that can help you feel fuller and eat less.

I’m talking about avocados.

Yes, the same green, creamy fruit that is loaded with monounsaturated fat is the same food that could be your secret weapon for post-holiday weight loss.

That’s because people who eat the most avocados tend to eat less overall.

Avocados have been a staple in Central and South America for thousands of years, and many families still consume a dozen or more avocados every week.

Researchers took a closer look at 72 Mexican families to see how high avocado intake impacted their overall intake of calories and nutrients.

What they found was that avocados tended to help people feel fuller after eating… and reduced overall caloric intake.

The families who ate a lot of avocados also had higher intake of fiber, monounsaturated fat, potassium, vitamin E, and folate.

Now, I will say that the families with the highest intake were eating 14 avocados per week… or two per day.

That’s a lot of avocados.

But any amount of this health food will do your body good.

They’ve been linked with reduced cholesterol and triglycerides, reduced risk of metabolic syndrome, reduced risk of cataracts and macular degeneration, and even reduced risk of cancer.

And another recent study confirmed their ability to help prevent weight gain and diabetes.

There are plenty of ways you can get more avocados in your diet. Put them in salads, spread them on toast, mash them as guacamole… even toss them in a healthy shake.

As this study showed, the more you eat, the better for your health… and your waistline.
