Tough to Treat A-Fib Gets NEW Novel Solution
Big Pharma is always on the hunt for its next Big Blockbuster Drug.
But I’ve found that most of the time, the best pharmaceutical drugs are the ones that already exist.
They’re often passed by when it comes to their full potential for one big reason: money.
You see, once a drug becomes generic (which means it goes off patent and other companies can reproduce it), pharmaceutical companies no longer have a monopoly.
Prices plummet—and with them, profits.
I’m telling you this to set the stage for one of Big Pharma’s most overlooked and underappreciated drugs.
In addition to being the most effective drug for treating type 2 diabetes, this drug could potentially treat a condition that’s in desperate need of a safe, effective drug: atrial fibrillation.
Atrial fibrillation (A-Fib) is an irregular, often rapid heartbeat. It increases the risk of stroke, heart failure, and other heart-related complications.
There’s a need for better drugs to treat this condition because the current ones have potentially serious side effects.
But a “better” option could have been right under our noses all along: Metformin.
Metformin is currently the leading drug for treating type 2 diabetes. It works by reducing insulin resistance and lowering sugar absorption.
It’s a generic drug, which means it’s not a major money-maker.
But in recent years, research has exploded on metformin. It turns out that managing blood sugar is just the tip of the iceberg.
Some of the most exciting studies show that metformin could help prevent dementia and reduce cancer risk. It’s even been shown to help you live longer.
Now, one of the latest studies has shown that metformin could be the missing piece of the puzzle for atrial fibrillation.
Using advanced computation and genetic sequencing, researchers analyzed 2,800 FDA-approved treatments to see which ones could be potential candidates for treating the condition.
Metformin came out on top, with the results showing that it targeted 30 genes that are dysregulated in A-Fib.
This doesn’t mean that metformin is a slam-dunk for treating atrial fibrillation. And like all drugs it can come with some side effects. But it does place it at the top of the treatment list for a condition that has so few options to begin with.
A study like this one cuts YEARS off the development of a new drug. Now that metformin has been identified, researchers can fast-track its testing in clinical studies.
While we wait for those results, there is an effective drug-free solution that, in some cases, can CURE atrial fibrillation. I have all the details right here.
P.S. Some of the most forward-thinking scientists use metformin as an anti-aging wonder drug. You can read all about it in the latest issue of my newsletter.
