Turbo-Charge Your Cells With This “Barefoot” Trick
Spring is here… and that means more than putting the winter coat away for the year.
This is also a great chance to get out in the sun and really refocus on your health.
Let’s face it – a lot of us let our health go a bit in the winter. We’re stuck inside, eating poorly, and not getting as much exercise as we should.
But, today, I’m going to tell you about one of my favorite health regimens – and why it’s a perfect time to get started, now that nicer weather has arrived.
It’s been proven to fight inflammation – and even give you an energy boost all the way down to the cellular level.
The best parts? It’s free – and you can get started today.
You may have heard me talk about “grounding” before – going barefoot and establishing a direct connection with the Earth.
But this isn’t hippie stuff – it can have a direct impact on your health.
The ground is an excellent source of free, subatomic particles known as electrons. We are designed to collect those electrons from the ground through the sweat glands in our feet.
Those electrons are essential to energy production and the health of our mitochondria – the energy centers of our cells.
They support something in your mitochondria known as the electron transport chain, which is crucial for producing the compound ATP – which our bodies need for energy.
But that’s not all…
The journal Current Research in Complementary & Alternative Medicine recently published an excellent overview on the research behind grounding.
It found that grounding can:
- Boost mitochondrial energy production by up to 11%
- Reduce markers of oxidative stress by up to 33%. And, remember, oxidative stress can drive inflammation and damage to our cells and tissues.
So, how do you get started? Just spend some time with your bare feet connected to the Earth, every day. The electrons start flowing in as little as 60 second flat.
But you can do better than that…
Try to spend at least 40 minutes grounded to the Earth in a safe place (no lightning or electrical wires) twice a day.
If you have mobility issues, put a comfortable chair outside and connect your bare feet to the ground. When you need to wear shoes, opt for leather soles, which still allow those electrons to flow.
