URGENT: Popular Stomach Med Can KILL You
Dear Reader,
It may be uncomfortable… or even painful.
But your heartburn is never going to kill you.
Unfortunately, the medications you use to treat it might.
According to an alarming new study, some of the most popular stomach acid drugs around could send your risk of dying through the roof.
I’m talking about proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) like Nexium, Prevacid, and Prilosec.
And if you have one of these Big Pharma poison pills in your medicine cabinet, this is one warning you can’t afford to miss.
A recent study published in BMJ Open followed more than 6 million people for about 6 years.
What they found was horrifying — people taking PPIs were 25 percent more likely to die than folks who weren’t.
And the longer you take them, the higher the risk.
That’s a HUGE problem since most doctors tend to prescribe PPIs… and then FORGET to UNprescribe them.
These drugs were never meant to be taken long-term.
But most people stay on them, because their docs just keep signing off on refills. Plus, you can even get some PPIs over-the-counter now.
Study after study has warned about how overprescribed PPIs are, but no one is listening.
Maybe now, with people dying, they will.
What this study didn’t show was why these drugs increase the risk of death.
No great mystery there…
PPIs are well-knowns for their extensive side effects, like muscle weakness, nutrient deficiencies, pneumonia, kidney disease, risk of potentially deadly infections, dementia…and more!
I don’t need a study to tell me that any one of these side effects could kill you.
The evidence is clear: PPIs are unnecessary, ineffective, and potentially deadly.
If this makes you want to toss those pills… good! Just don’t do it before talking to your doctor.
Even though the drug itself is dangerous, quitting cold turkey can temporarily make acid problems worse.
To a brighter day,
Dr. Richard Gerhauser, M.D.
