Vitamin SLASHES Colon Cancer Risk by More Than Half
Colon cancer rates are skyrocketing in adults under 55.
The biggest increase is in the 40 to 49 age group, but even those in their 20s are impacted by this trend.
All three of my sons are in this high-risk age range… but I don’t worry about them.
Why?
Because they’re shielding themselves from this growing threat with a potent natural solution.
And according to a recent study, it could also reduce your colon cancer risk by 58 percent.
I never get tired of seeing new studies touting vitamin D’s benefits.
This time, researchers wanted to evaluate the impact of D on colon cancer risk.
After reviewing data from 50 studies, they found that those with the highest vitamin D levels had a 25 percent reduced risk of colon cancer compared to those with the lowest.
(High vitamin D was defined as 80 ng/mL and low as 10 ng/mL.)
I’m glad this study highlighted the importance of having a higher D level. We’ve been led to believe that vitamin D only needs to be around 20 ng/mL because studies show it is necessary for bone health.
But vitamin D is essential for SO MUCH MORE than healthy bones.
It supports critical immune system components, including the spleen and lymph nodes. It also boosts the activity of cancer-fighting T-cells.
It even helps support overall gut health, which is vital for preventing colorectal cancer.
And guess what? Vitamin D levels of 20 ng/mL won’t be enough to fully support those critical cancer-fighting functions in your body.
I’ve always advised patients to aim for at least 60 ng/mL.
Have your blood levels tested, and then take the necessary steps to improve your levels based on your individual needs.
With colon cancer rates increasing at such an alarming rate, early detection alone is a good start… but it isn’t enough.
Give yourself added protection—and peace of mind—by getting plenty of vitamin D.
P.S. Three MORE reasons to love vitamin D.
