Crohn's and Colitis BREAKTHROUGH
Your gut microbiome plays a critical role in your overall health.
Having a HEALTHY microbiome means lots of bacterial diversity, and having good bacteria outnumber the bad ones.
To accomplish that, people usually focus on boosting the number of good bacteria.
Today, we’re going to talk about a different approach:
Selectively taking out the bad guys.
This method could be especially beneficial for folks suffering from chronic inflammatory diseases like Crohn’s and colitis.
Crohn’s and colitis are linked to an imbalance of bacteria in the gut.
This leads to a compromised intestinal barrier and an excessive immune response, triggering inflammation and swelling.
Unfortunately, in these cases, popping probiotics CAN’T simply fix the problem. But the good news is it doesn’t have to be because we now have a promising NEW approach to try.
Researchers developed a process that effectively BOOSTS good bacteria while selectively taking OUT the bad guys.
Calcium tungsten microgels (CTM) are a unique probiotic delivery method that transports good bacteria directly to the location in the gut most affected by bad bacterial overgrowth.
Once there, a mouse model showed that the probiotics could safely colonize the area.
This method was remarkably effective. It increased colonization of good bacteria by 25 times and decreased harmful Enterobacteriaceae bacteria by 45 times!
The mice also showed fewer colitis markers, such as shortened colons or impaired intestinal barriers (leaky gut).
Current options for treating inflammatory bowel conditions such as IBS, Crohn’s, and colitis are limited, costly, and often risky. So a natural and far safer approach like this is very promising and welcome.
We’re in the early stages of CTM development and research, so I’ll keep an eye on future advances.
P.S. Nothing puts a damper on the day quite like walking around feeling like a balloon in the Macy’s parade. Before your next battle with a gassy tummy, stock your medicine cabinet with these NATURAL bloat blockers.
