SLASH Cancer Risk with 3 Key Nutrients
One in five will die from cancer.
The best way to BEAT this killer is to never get it in the first place.
And it turns out your body has built-in anti-cancer defense mechanisms that can keep YOU cancer-free.
The only catch? It’s up to you to activate them.
Fortunately, nature has provided us with potent nutrients PROVEN to trigger these weapons.
There are many reasons why cancer is now a leading cause of death.
Toxins in our environment, stress, obesity, being sedentary, poor diet, and the prevalence of other chronic diseases make you more susceptible to developing cancer.
The good news is, studies have identified three key nutrients that ACTIVATE your body’s built-in cancer-fighting weapons.
- Curcumin:
Curcumin is the active compound in the spice turmeric. Thousands of studies have been completed specifically on the spice extract and cancer. Typically, countries, where people consume more turmeric, have SIGNIFICANTLY lower cancer rates—and curcumin could be a big reason why.
Studies show curcumin not only KILLS cancerous cells, it prevents more from growing by regulating numerous cancer cell pathways. Plus, the extract can combat them by essentially starving them to death.
Curcumin decreases the cancer cell’s ability to make the energy it needs to survive and thrive by reducing ATP synthesis. This slows the growth of various cancers, and unlike chemotherapy, it doesn’t affect healthy cells.
- Glucosinolates:
Broccoli and other cruciferous vegetables—like cauliflower, cabbage, broccoli sprouts, and Brussels sprouts—contain powerful anti-cancer compounds called glucosinolates.
When you eat them, they’re converted to sulforaphane, a compound that works in numerous ways to prevent and possibly even treat the disease. Sulforaphane can detoxify cancer-causing agents, prevent DNA mutations, trigger programmed cancer-cell death, and “turn off” cancer genes.
The compound prevents chemically induced cancers in animal models and inhibits the growth of established tumors. And studies suggest eating more cruciferous veggies can lower overall cancer risk (including colon, lung, and prostate cancers), particularly during the early stages.
- Selenium:
Large-scale epidemiologic studies have repeatedly demonstrated that populations with low selenium levels are at significantly increased risk of developing many cancers.
In one study on skin cancer, researchers accidentally discovered patients taking the mineral had a 50 percent lower risk of dying from any cancer and a 37 percent lower risk of developing one.
Selenium attacks cancer cells by many mechanisms, including reducing DNA damage, boosting the immune system, and destroying cancer cells. However, not all forms of the mineral are equally protective. Look for sodium selenite, L-selenomethionine, or selenium-methyl L-selenocysteine.
Pork, beef, turkey, chicken, fish, shellfish, eggs, and Brazil nuts contain high amounts of selenium.
Remember, if you’re currently in treatment for cancer, you should always check with your doctor and a naturopathic oncologist BEFORE taking any new supplements.
