Can This LIGHTBULB Stop Diabetes?!?
Dear Reader,
Energy-efficient light bulbs might be saving our planet…but they’re destroying our health.
That’s because fluorescent and LED lights have extremely high amounts of blue light.
Blue light is essential for good health… as long as you’re exposed to it at the right time of day.
But at night, exposure to blue light has been tied to everything from sleep problems and depression, to obesity and diabetes.
Fortunately, Ivy League researchers have just found a way to save the planet… and your health… at the same time.
It’s a lightbulb that could help stop diabetes in its tracks.
The reason exposure to blue light at night is so harmful is because it throws off our circadian rhythm.
This important clock regulates critical hormones that impact every aspect of our health – both physical and emotional.
All of the major health organizations – the World Health Organization, the American Medical Association, the National Institutes of Health – recognize that LEDs are a major health problem, and scientists have been working hard to develop a lightbulb that could be both energy-efficient and healthy.
And they’re well on their way to doing just that.
Scientists have invented a revolutionary Circadian Light LED that essentially follows the sun’s day/night cycle, and regulates how much blue light is emitted from the lightbulb based on the time of day, location, and season.
These lights remove 90 percent of the blue light at night.
To test the health impact of these “smart” lightbulbs, researchers had a group of people work a 12-hour night shift under regular (blue-light-emitting) LED lights, and then they worked a night shift under a special Circadian Light LED.
When the people were exposed to regular LED lights at night, they experienced an increase in appetite and insulin resistance. But when the SAME people were exposed to the “smart” LEDs, it PREVENTED insulin resistance and increased appetite.
It’s good to see the industry starting to moving toward my point of view regarding blue lights, but they’ve still got a long way to go.
Keep in mind that isolated blue light is never ideal.
With natural sunlight blue is always balanced by red. This is critical because blue light breaks down molecules in our eyes and skin, while red light regenerates them. So blue light alone, even during the day, is not optimal.
Still, I’m encouraged by these types of inventions. It shows that people are waking up the dangers of blue light, and puts us one step closer to finding a solution.
In the meantime, the cheapest, most effective way to avoid blue light at night is to wear amber blue-light blocking glasses starting at 8 p.m. (you can get them at Amazon.com).
And be sure to install blue light filters on your phone, tablet, and computer.
To a brighter day,
