7 Food LIES That Are Killing You
Everywhere you turn, someone is telling you how important it is to eat healthy.
But what on Earth does that mean?
There’s so much conflicting health information out there these days, I don’t blame you if you’re confused.
But there are 7 food lies that have been spreading for years, and MILLIONS of people have been fooled.
These lies aren’t just dangerous… they could actually be shaving YEARS off your life.
Here are the 7 food lies I want you to stop believing today.
- Eggs are bad for you.
Wrong!
People used to think that eggs increased cholesterol levels. They don’t. Eggs are one of the healthiest, nutrient-packed foods on the planet. They contain a significant number of water-soluble vitamins, including folate, riboflavin (B2), vitamin B12, pantothenic acid (B5), and niacin (B3). They have 22% of the recommended daily allowance of selenium, and they are a complete source of protein.
- Saturated fat causes heart disease.
Wrong!
A study that reviewed 72 other studies including more than 600,000 people determined that saturated fat plays NO role in heart disease. Zero. Zilch. Nada. So go ahead and enjoy those eggs and meat!
- Gluten-free diets are good for you.
Wrong!
Gluten-free diets might be all the rage, but don’t jump on the bandwagon just yet. The only exception here is if you have a gluten sensitivity, in which case you should avoid it. But for everyone else…eat up! The benefits of gluten are well-documented, and include everything from helping you avoid overeating, to reducing the risk of colorectal cancer and heart disease.
- Low-fat foods are better than full-fat.
Wrong!
Full-fat foods contain the optimal amounts of both fat and sugar, which allows your body to process the sugar more slowly. Plus, most low-fat foods contain loads of added sugar or salt to help offset the flavor that was lost when the fat was removed.
- Red meat is dangerous.
Wrong!
Red meat is loaded with vitamin B12 and zinc. It’s also an excellent source of iron and protein. Just make sure it’s high-quality, grass-fed beef. And be sure to stay away from processed meats, which are loaded with additives and preservatives.
- Coffee is bad for you.
Wrong!
Not only is your tasty morning brew NOT bad for you, studies have shown that it can prevent type 2 diabetes and liver cancer. Coffee drinkers have a lower risk of heart failure, stroke, and coronary artery disease. It’s also been shown tolower your risk of death! So drink up!
- Cheese will make you fat.
Wrong!
If you eat too much of anything, you could gain weight. But cheese contains something called butyrate, which has been shown to boost metabolism and help you lose weight! Butyrate has also been shown to lower the risk of colon cancer. Plus, when you eat cheese in moderation, you’re getting loads of calcium.
