High Blood Pressure? Better Read This
It’s a lie our government has told us thousands of times.
Before any drug hits the market, it’s supposed to pass rigorous testing to make sure it’s safe and effective.
The problem? Lots of drugs on the market today are neither safe, nor effective.
Case in point: the Food and Drug Administration has issued a recall for certain blood pressure drugs because of a major complication that won’t just ruin your life… it could END it.
Here’s what you need to know.
The blood pressure drugs in question are contain an ingredient called valsartan.
And the reason they’re being recalled?
THEY CAN CAUSE CANCER.
The specific drugs in the recall include the valsartan (and valsartan/hydrochlorothiazide) drugs made by the following companies:
- Major Pharmaceuticals
- Solco Healthcare
- Teva Pharmaceuticals
These drugs have been found to contain an impurity (called N-nitrosodimethylamine, or NDMA) that has been classified as a probable human carcinogen.
NDMA is a chemical that is used in liquid rocket fuel, softeners, and lubricants. It is a byproduct produced by pesticide manufacturing and the making of rubber tires.
So what in the world is it doing in a prescription drug?!
Per usual, the FDA dragged its feet on the issue.
The recall came only AFTER 22 other countries all over the world issued recalls on more than 2,300 valsartan batches sent to their countries.
And of course, the FDA is only too quick to point out other “safe” blood pressure drugs that could be taken as an alternative.
Are you ready to take the FDA’s word on safety? I’m not.
Here’s the catch. Millions of people who are taking these drugs don’t need to be on them in the first place.
Blood pressure guidelines were recently changed, so that high blood pressure is now defined as 120-129/80 (it used to be 140/90).
And it’s a total crock meant to get more people on meds that do very little.
A study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association showed that only about 33 percent of those taking blood pressure drugs have their readings under control. Studies also show that taking blood pressure drugs doesn’t reduce heart attacks or help you live longer.
I’m not saying high blood pressure isn’t a problem. Other than smoking, high blood pressure is the leading PREVENTABLE cause of heart attacks and strokes.
But the best way to get it under control is to get your lifestyle under control.
Eat more whole foods (especially seafood), get plenty of morning sunlight, avoid fake light at night, and stay away from electromagnetic fields.
Even a simple mineral like magnesium has been shown to lower blood pressure — without any of the risks that come with prescription drugs.
