NEVER Have a Heart Attack or Get Diabetes?! (INCREDIBLE)
Judging from what you hear from some people, being healthy and avoiding disease is NO FUN AT ALL.
It involves never eating another donut… running like a rat on a treadmill… and drinking frothy green juice potent enough to make you gag.
That’s NOT my version of healthy—and it doesn’t have to be yours either.
In fact, researchers have just identified a SURE-FIRE way to reduce your risk of heart attack and diabetes.
And trust me, you’ll have a blast doing it.
Most Americans get vacation time through their place of employment… but studies show that more than half of Americans aren’t using all of it.
And that means that you could be missing out on a KEY way to REDUCE your risk of metabolic syndrome – the key driver behind heart disease, stroke, and diabetes.
In a study published in JAMA, researchers followed 63 people to see how taking a vacation (or NOT taking one) would impact metabolic syndrome.
Metabolic syndrome is a collection of conditions—like high blood sugar and blood pressure, abnormal cholesterol, and excess belly fat—that increases your risk of heart disease, stroke, and diabetes.
The results are in, and they speak for themselves:
- Those who didn’t take any vacation had a 47% probability of developing metabolic syndrome.
- Those who took five vacations per year only had a 16% probability.
- But in those who took 15 vacations per year, the probability of developing metabolic syndrome dropped to just 1%.
Further evaluation showed that for every additional vacation a person took, their probability of developing metabolic syndrome dropped by 8%.
All of that is GREAT news for anyone looking to stay healthy and young, but it gets even better….
Because it’s not the first study to show the incredible health benefits of simply taking a break.
One study shows that taking vacations helped reduce incidences of depression in women.
And another study finds that taking vacations more often helped to reduce the risk of coronary heart disease in at-risk men—plus reduced their risk of dying.
Like I said, staying healthy and feeling young doesn’t have to be a chore.
To get even more benefits from your vacation, do a fun activity (like taking a hike, strolling along the beach, or riding a tandem bicycle), travel with people you love, and be sure to spend plenty of time in the sun.
Personally, I just got home from a vacation where I got in a lot of sun and fishing on my new kayak. I highly recommend it!
