Eat THIS To Beat Heart Disease
After all these years, heart disease is still the number one killer in America.
And it’s a tragedy.
Because unlike something like COVID-19—which can hit you out of the blue — heart disease tends to develop slowly over time.
And, in most cases, it can be prevented if we take the right steps.
Now, a recent study showed that steering clear of heart disease could be as easy as eating more of some of your favorite foods.
This latest study published the Journal of Human Nutrition and Dietetics took a closer look at the link between dietary intake of vitamin D and cardiovascular disease.
The study included over 2,000 people and lasted for 11 years.
Those with the highest intake of vitamin D foods had the lowest incidence of cardiovascular disease-related events (like a heart attack or stroke).
More specifically, cardiovascular events occurred in 12 percent of the men who consumed the most vitamin D foods, compared to 24 percent of men who consumed the least.
The same inverse association was seen in women as well.
The people who ate the most foods with vitamin D also had a lower rate of cardiovascular disease in general.
In addition, those who consumed the most vitamin D foods also had fewer risk factors for heart disease, like hypertension, unhealthy metabolic status (such as high cholesterol and triglyceride levels), and inflammation.
This is the kind of study I like to see… the real-world benefits of getting vitamin D straight from its source.
It’s also a prime example of the reason why I recommend getting your D from food and from the sun.
The best food sources of vitamin D include:
- Fatty fish like salmon, tuna, and mackerel
- Beef liver
- Egg yolks
- Cheese
- Sardines
If you’ve made a concerted effort to boost your D through food and the sun—and your blood levels are still low—only then do I recommend taking a supplement.
