“Solid Gold” Spice STOPS Any Disease! (WOW)
When it comes to superfoods, it doesn’t get much better than turmeric.
This “solid gold” spice has been popular among Middle Eastern medicine men for centuries, used for treating everything from congestion to wound healing.
Now, modern science has confirmed its health benefits—and it seems like it could help you fight just about ANY DISEASE!
Here are turmeric’s top six health benefits.
Fights Inflammation
Of all of turmeric’s health benefits, it’s best known as a powerful anti-inflammatory. And inflammation is at the root of all diseases—arthritis, heart disease, and even diabetes.
One study showed that when people with osteoarthritis took curcumin (the active component in turmeric), it reduced symptoms of inflammation like stiffness, joint pain, and swelling. (Read more about turmeric and arthritis HERE.)
Master Antioxidant
Another key factor in the development of numerous diseases is oxidative stress. This occurs when your body has too many free radicals, which damage proteins, tissues, and even your very DNA.
Over time, oxidative damage can lead to major diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.
One study showed that supplementing with curcuminoids reduced levels of oxidative stress in people with an inherited blood disorder.
Cancer Treatment
Inflammation and oxidative stress both play a role in the growth and spread of cancer—so it’s no wonder that as an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant, curcumin has an anti-cancer impact as well.
One study showed that curcumin could help prevent the proliferation of breast cancer cells, which helped to slow the growth of the tumor.
Heart Health
Supplementing with up to 4,000 mg of curcumin per day has been shown to improve numerous indicators of heart health, including lowering total and LDL cholesterol, and decreasing the amount of fat in the blood.
But if you’re taking blood thinners, talk to your doctor first, since large amounts of curcumin can thin the blood.
Brain Boost
One study showed that consuming up to 1,000 mg of curcumin daily for six weeks led to improvements in symptoms of depression and anxiety.
It’s also been found to manage numerous factors that are involved in the develop of Alzheimer’s, including inflammation, oxidative stress, and the formation of beta-amyloid plaques in the brain.
Healthy Skin
Curcumin’s antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits extend to your skin as well.
It has wound-healing properties, making it beneficial for condition like psoriasis and various eczemas. And applying ointments containing curcumin has been found to speed wound healing, improve collagen in the skin, and promote the growth of new blood vessels.
You may have noticed that most of these studies focused on curcumin—the active compound in turmeric—as opposed to turmeric itself.
That’s because while turmeric is good for you, and is beneficial to add to your diet, you won’t be getting much curcumin through turmeric alone.
Instead, you’ll need to take a curcumin supplement. Just make sure it also has black pepper, which increases the absorption of curcumin in your body.
And if you want to add more curcumin to your diet, you can add it to smoothies, sprinkle it on a salad, or make a delicious curry.
