COVID-19 Linked to Heart-Related Death Risk?
COVID-19 can be very dangerous – with the death toll in the US just hitting the 400,000 mark.
But that number is actually HIGHER.
The reality is that COVID-19 has killed far more people—even if they never actually had the disease.
How is this possible?
There has been a dramatic increase in heart-related deaths since COVID-19 struck—and researchers believe the virus is to blame.
Fear is terrible for your health, both mentally and physically.
And for some people, the fear of COVID-19 has turned deadly.
That’s because it prevented them from getting the medical help they needed.
Many people were simply too scared to go to the hospital for treatment—especially in the early months of the pandemic, back in March and April of last year.
Looking at data from the U.S. National Center for Health Statistics, researchers found that compared to the same timeframe in 2019, from March-June 2020 there was an…
- 11 percent increase in deaths from heart attacks
- 17 percent increase in deaths from complications of high blood pressure
And in places that were especially hard-hit from COVID-19, like New York City, the spikes were unheard of…
- A 139 percent increase in deaths from heart disease
- A 164 percent increase in deaths related to high blood pressure
Similar spikes were seen in other key COVID areas, like New Jersey, Michigan, and Illinois.
The reason for these unnecessary deaths is simple and very unfortunate: The people were too scared to go to the hospital.
While some of those deaths could possibly be related to undiagnosed COVID-19, most of them likely aren’t.
Which means they didn’t have to happen.
Similar studies have shown a dramatic decline in heart-related diagnostic tests during the pandemic.
Tests like heart imaging exams, stress tests, and coronary angiography decreased by 64 percent during the first few months of the pandemic.
Folks, please hear this: The danger of not getting medical treatment when needed is FAR GREATER than your risk of getting COVID-19.
That has always been the case, but it is especially true now that so many precautions are in place to keep people safe.
If you need medical help, GET IT.
Please don’t be another victim of COVID-19’s collateral damage.
P.S. I’m sure you’re well-versed by now, on all of the risk factors that could put you at a higher risk for the virus. But have you heard of this one? Click here and get the details about this COVID-19 risk.
