This Delicious Seafood SLASHES Diabetes Risk 22%
There are plenty of ways to reduce your risk of type 2 diabetes.
You probably know that two of the biggest are maintaining a healthy weight and exercising.
But a recent study has revealed a surprising connection between a certain type of seafood and type 2 diabetes.
And as it turns out, the people who eat the most of it slash their risk of developing this disease.
Too often, when people talk about avoiding type 2 diabetes, they talk about what NOT to eat.
But that’s difficult for many folks – who wants to feel restricted?
And personally, I’ve found that when I fill my diet with GOOD food, I tend to eat less of the BAD kind without even trying.
And there’s a good food I eat on a regular basis that can dramatically lower your risk of type 2 diabetes.
Fish!
Researchers looked at nearly 400,000 adults who didn’t have type 2 diabetes or cardiovascular disease at the start of the study and followed them for about 10 years.
It turns out that people who ate one or more servings of oily fish per week had a 22 percent reduced risk of type 2 diabetes, compared to those who never ate it.
And people who took fish oil supplements had a 9 percent reduced risk of diabetes.
Experts have already been recommending eating fish for its heart-health benefits, but this study shows there’s another pretty big reason to add it to your list.
In fact, the evidence that eating fish is benefits your heart is so strong that the American Heart Association released the following statement:
“Current scientific evidence strongly supports the recommendation that seafood is an integral component of a heart-healthy dietary pattern… A large body of evidence supports the recommendation to consume nonfried seafood, especially species higher in long-chain n-3 fatty acids, one to two times per week for cardiovascular benefits, including reduced risk of cardiac death, coronary heart disease, and ischemic stroke.”
And it’s this same type of heart-happy oily fish also lower your risk of type 2 diabetes!
These include salmon, mackerel, herring, tuna, and sardines.
As the saying goes, let food by thy medicine.
P.S. If you or a loved one struggle with getting your blood sugar under control, then there’s a good chance diabetes is at the top of your list of worries. But I have good news. There’s another way that you can slash your risk of diabetes IN HALF – no dangerous drugs required. Click here for the details.
