“Fat Secret” INCREASES Death Risk? (Shocking)
When doctors talk about things that increase your risk of an early death, you usually hear about risk factors like blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, and smoking.
But there’s one BIG factor they’ve been completely overlooking.
According to a recent study, this single risk factor is an even bigger predictor of all-cause mortality than the standard metrics.
And that means you could be at risk without even knowing it.
The good news is that it’s easy to find out if you have this risk factor… and even easier to fix it.
You know that omega-3 fatty acids are good for your health — but it turns out the opposite is true as well.
Not having enough of them could increase your risk of an early death.
The Omega-3 Index is a blood test that measures how much EPA and DHA (two specific omega-3s) is in your blood.
A study published a few years ago showed that people with the highest Omega-3 Index were 33 percent less likely to die during the 7-year study follow-up, compared to those with the lowest Omega-3 Index.
For this most recent study, researchers looked at 2,240 people from the Framingham Offspring Cohort without cardiovascular disease.
They all had blood work that evaluated red blood cell fatty acid measurements (including the Omega-3 Index), as well as other risk factors commonly used to predict early death.
These included smoking, blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and diabetes status.
The results showed that the Omega-3 Index was at least as good at predicting all-cause mortality as the standard risk factors.
And the highest predictor of all was the lethal combination of low Omega-3 Index + smoking + diabetes.
This is great news, because all three factors are easily modified.
You can boost your omega-3 levels by eating lots of fatty fish like salmon and mackerel or by taking an omega-3 supplement.
Anyone can quit smoking.
And yes, you can reverse diabetes as well. (You can read about that here.)
Even better?
When your omega-3 levels are up to snuff, you’ll not only be living longer, but healthier, too.
