END Your Migraine Pain (No Drugs Needed)
When it comes to pain problems, migraines rank right up there at the top of the list.
They’re one of the most common causes of chronic pain, loss of work, and poor quality of life.
A severe migraine attack can last from three hours to three DAYS.
And to make a bad situation worse, most drugs for the condition are practically useless.
But that’s okay, because you don’t have to take drugs to reduce how often you experience a migraine — or to reduce its severity.
All you have to do is eat more fish!
More and more research is linking diet to migraines, and the type of fat you eat plays a big part.
You see, previous studies have linked linoleic acid — a polyunsaturated fat commonly derived from corn and soybeans — to chronic pain.
They’ve also shown that eating less linoleic acid—and more healthy omega-3 fats that are found in fatty fish—can reduce the intensity of migraine pain.
Now, a study showed that it can reduce their frequency as well.
For this study by the National Institutes of Health, 182 adults with chronic migraines followed a special diet for 16 weeks.
- One group ate high levels of omega-3s and low levels of linoleic acid.
- A second ate high levels of fatty fish and even more linoleic acid.
- And a third ate low levels of fatty fish but high levels of linoleic acid.
At the beginning of the study, the individuals experienced an average of 16 headache days per month, with the pain lasting more than five hours.
After the 16 weeks, the group eating high levels of fatty fish and low levels of linoleic acid experienced up to 40 percent reduction in total headache hours per day, in the severity of those headaches, and in overall headaches per month.
Isn’t it remarkable that a simple diet change could make such a big impact on a condition that causes so much pain and suffering?
If you’re suffering from chronic migraines, don’t wait for your doctor to prescribe a diet change.
That won’t happen.
Instead, try the simple steps from this study:
- Cut out polyunsaturated fats
- Add in more fatty fish rich in omega-3 fatty acids
