The 10-Minute Knee Pain FIX!
If you’re one of the millions of Americans suffering from painful arthritis in your knees, you already know miserable it can be.
And as the condition progresses, the pain can limit your ability to do “simple” tasks like climbing steps or even get dressed in the morning.
In fact, almost HALF of the folks with knee arthritis end up developing some form of disability.
But you don’t have to be one of them.
Researchers have found a way for people with knee arthritis to prevent the disability that often comes with it—and it takes less than 10 minutes a day.
If your knees hurt, the last thing you probably want to do is to go for a walk… but that might just be the best thing for you.
In a recent study published in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine, researchers analyzed the data on more than 1,500 adults in a national arthritis initiative.
At the start of the study, the patients all had pain, aching, and stiffness in their knees, but were not yet experiencing any disability.
But after tracking physical activity, something became clear.
Just one hour per week of moderate physical activity prevented them from becoming disabled.
Individuals that engaged in one hour of physical activity per week reduced their risk of disability by 85%. (This would be like being able to walk fast enough to cross the street safely.)
And they reduced their risk of disabilities associated with daily living by 45%. (This would include activities like getting a shower or getting dressed.)
The individuals that did not engage in physical activity faced a much different reality. Four years later, 24% of them experienced mobility disability, and 23% experienced disabilities with daily living.
If you’re suffering from osteoarthritis, recommendations to exercise 30 minutes per day to lower heart disease risk is daunting.
But this study showed that it only takes one hour per week—that breaks down to less than 10 minutes per day—to prevent the disability associated with knee arthritis.
That’s something that should be doable for just about anyone.
And maintaining your independence is certainly worth it.
