Lower Blood Sugar in 15 MINUTES?!
If you have type 2 diabetes, constantly monitoring your blood sugar levels can be a drag.
In fact, you may be one of the nearly 50 percent of diabetics who have tried everything — and still failed — to achieve their blood sugar goals.
But there’s one food you can start adding into your diet right now.
And it can help bring your blood sugar levels under control in just 15 minutes.
Plus, it can help boost insulin sensitivity, too.
I’m talking about the incredible, edible… blueberry.
There are a lot of nutrients packed in the tiny blueberry — and a lot of health benefits, too.
In the past, I’ve told you about studies showing how blueberries can help combat the leading killers in the US: heart disease and cancer.
- One study showed that blueberries can help kill cancer cells, especially when combined with radiation therapy,
- Another showed that they improved vascular function and arterial stiffness, two risk factors for heart disease.
Now, an equally impressive study has shown their ability to tackle another major health threat: type 2 diabetes.
For this study, researchers wanted to determine if eating blueberries with a high-carb food could help manage blood sugar levels in men with type 2 diabetes.
The participants ate a slice of white bread along with about 5 ounces of blueberries.
After just 15 minutes, the people who consumed the white bread and blueberries had better blood sugar levels than people who ate the bread without blueberries!
This indicates that simply eating blueberries can help cancel out the immediate blood sugar spikes that come from eating simple carbs like white bread.
The researchers also found that continuing to eat blueberries every day for six weeks led to lower insulin levels just two hours after eating white bread.
In other words, incorporating blueberries into your diet can improve your body’s sensitivity to insulin.
What makes these results even more impressive is that they occurred in people who were sedentary—which negatively affects both blood sugar control and insulin sensitivity.
If you already have type 2 diabetes, lowering blood sugar and boosting insulin sensitivity will go a long way toward helping you manage the condition.
And if you don’t have diabetes, they are the key steps you need to be taking to make sure you never get it.
Eating blueberries on a regular basis is a simple way to do just that.
