“Dairy Trick” SLASHES Your Heart Attack Risk 30 Percent?
There are a LOT of ways to reduce your risk of heart disease.
Some involve cutting certain harmful foods from your diet (like fried and processed foods).
Some involve getting more exercise (even if it’s just walking).
But other studies have also highlighted key heart-healthy superfoods foods that can reduce your risk of coronary heart disease…and of having a life-threatening heart attack.
Luckily, this “dairy trick” can cut your risk of a heart attack by 30 percent.
Yogurt is best known for its ability to boost your gut health by helping balance your microbiome.
But it also has some hefty benefits for your heart as well.
In a study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, researchers examined 30 years of health records of 55,000 adults with high blood pressure.
The people kept daily logs of what they ate, plus any medical diagnosis they received during that time.
The men who ate two or more servings of yogurt per week were 19 percent less likely to have a heart attack.
And the women were 30 percent less likely to have a heart attack.
Both men and women who ate yogurt twice a week saw a 20 percent reduced risk of developing coronary heart disease.
But buyer beware.
All yogurt is NOT created equal.
The majority of the yogurt brands lining the grocery store shelves are loaded with sugar. And be extra wary of the “sugar-free” ones, which are actually loaded with something worse than sugar: aspartame.
This unhealthy sugar substitute has plenty of negative health effects on your body — plus, it can increase your cravings for sweets.
Nothing labeled sugar-free is a health food.
When shopping for the healthiest yogurt, opt for plain Greek yogurt. It’s an excellent source of calcium, protein, and probiotics.
Then you can add your own flavor to it at home… granola, blueberries, slivered almonds, honey, almond butter, bananas, cinnamon.
This list goes on and on of ways to add extra flavor and nutrients to yogurt.
I like mine with almond butter, sliced banana, and a drizzle of honey.
My heart likes it, too.
P.S. A recent study found a hidden culprit that’s causing a woman’s risk of heart disease to skyrocket. And, men, this is a warning for you as well. Click here for the warning.
