Anti-Aging Supplement Slashes Hospitalization Rates for COVID-19
COVID-19 may not be making as many headlines these days, but that doesn’t mean it’s gone away.
As time has gone on, more research has been done to find out they best ways to prevent infection… or to reduce the severity of the virus if you happen to get sick.
Today, I want to highlight two key nutrients that have been shown to slash hospitalization rates in patients with COVID-19.
This double-blind, placebo-controlled study included 100 patients 45 years old and up who had tested positive for COVID-19.
All of the patients received a single megadose of vitamin D3 (100,000 IU). Then they were given either resveratrol for 15 days (500 mg per day) or a placebo.
Resveratrol is a compound found in wine grapes that has made a name for itself as an anti-aging supplement.
Overall, the patients who received the resveratrol along with vitamin D had a two percent hospitalization rate.
Those in the placebo group (who also received the vitamin D) had a three percent hospitalization rate.
At the time of the study in 2020, hospitalization rates ranged from 21 to 31 percent in this age group, so both groups experienced dramatic protection from one or BOTH of these nutrient interventions.
Adding the resveratrol had additional benefits, however.
Seven people from the vitamin D-only group had an emergency department visit, compared to four in the resveratrol group.
And eight people in the vitamin-D only group developed pneumonia, compared to only four in the resveratrol group.
Vitamin D was already on my COVID-19 protocol. But with results like these, it sounds like resveratrol would be another good one to add to the list.
