The TRUTH About Vitamin D and Your Bones
Brittle bones and aging often go hand in hand.
But they don’t have to.
You can take steps to maintain strong, healthy bones no matter how old you are.
Just make sure they’re the RIGHT steps.
Because if you’ve been relying on vitamin D supplements to do the job, I’ve got bad news for you.
A shocking study is sweeping the Internet showing that taking supplemental vitamin D did not reduce the risk of fractures.
To that, I say… of course it didn’t.
There are so many problems with this research and line of thinking that I don’t even know where to begin.
So let’s start here:
Most studies show that vitamin D levels on a blood test are a marker for sun exposure.
And, as I talk about all the time, the sun does many things besides stimulating vitamin D:
- Infrared and UV light charge the batteries in our cells to make the mitochondria more efficient by charge-separating water into an exclusion zone.
- Blue light frequencies in the sun set circadian rhythms.
- UV light stimulates the release of nitric oxide and Beta-endorphin.
- It breaks down sex hormones and stimulates melanin production by producing MSH (melanocyte-stimulating hormone).
- It activates many aromatic amino acids like tryptophan, so it can become serotonin and melatonin.
The list goes on.
ALL of these factors go into keeping you healthy and keeping your bones strong… NOT vitamin D by itself.
That’s why popping vitamin D pills and staying indoors ain’t gonna hack it. Not when it comes to your bone strength OR your overall health.
Vitamin D also works very closely with calcium and vitamin K to strengthen your bones.
Vitamin D helps bind calcium to your bones. And vitamin K2 is necessary for directing calcium into your bones and out of your arteries.
So supplementing with vitamin D without making sure you also have plenty of these other nutrients is also a waste of money.
Not to mention that the people who took part in this study weren’t deficient in vitamin D, to begin with. So, of course, taking vitamin D didn’t give them a leg up over people who weren’t supplementing.
Please don’t walk away from this thinking that vitamin D isn’t necessary for strong bones.
It is.
But it’s not a one-man show.
P.S. Be sure you’re taking your vitamin D supplements in the RIGHT WAY, or you’re wasting your money. Discover why right here.
