Is Your Kitchen Sink DESTROYING Your Heart?
You can think of your cardiovascular system like the water system in a city…
- Your heart is the central pumping station from which the water (blood) is distributed.
- Your aorta (the large vessel that delivers blood from your heart to your body) is the water tower.
- And your arteries are the distribution pipes that carry the water (blood) from the tower to all the areas where it’s needed.
EACH part has to do its job efficiently for a healthy cardiovascular system.
But, just like sludge building up in water distribution pipes slows water delivery down, plaque building up in arteries reduces blood flow.
Your heart is put under greater strain as it tries to push “water” through those clogged pipes. And this could ultimately lead to a heart attack, stroke, peripheral artery disease, and more.
But even when you’re doing everything “right” … regularly exercising, eating a healthy diet, and getting plenty of vitamin-D-rich sunshine… there’s a hidden risk factor that could send your heart risk soaring.
And it all starts at your kitchen sink…
Chances are you’re being exposed to heavy metals daily. We ALL are.
Toxic metals are hidden in contaminated soil, so they end up in our food. They’re swirling around us in air pollutants and cigarette smoke, which we breathe in.
And perhaps most disturbing of all, they’re hiding in plain sight in our drinking water.
In other words, heavy metals are impossible to avoid. And that’s a BIG problem because studies show these toxins harm our heart health.
In fact, the World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that 31 percent of the cardiovascular disease burden could be avoided if we could eliminate environmental pollutants.
A recent study looked at the impact of this heavy metal exposure on subclinical atherosclerosis. In other words, they looked for evidence of the artery-clogging condition BEFORE any official symptoms showed up.
The researchers found that older study participants had higher levels of heavy metals in their urine.
Plus, they linked elevated levels of three specific heavy metals to a higher chance of having subclinical atherosclerosis:
- Arsenic
- Cadmium
- Titanium
Titanium exposure typically comes from dental and orthopedic implants, screws, pacemaker encasings, and cosmetic products. While arsenic and cadmium are most often found in tobacco and food.
Plus, arsenic is in our water supply. This means this heavy metal finds its way into our homes… and our bodies… via the kitchen sink.
The researchers say current safety standards AREN’T good enough to protect against the damaging effects toxic metals have on the heart.
In other words, you can’t count on the government to keep you safe. You have to start protecting YOURSELF from heavy metals instead.
There are three simple ways you can start doing precisely this starting TODAY.
- Drink filtered water.
- Cut back on rice. It contains more arsenic than almost any other item in the store.
- Eat foods that detox heavy metals from your body. These include cruciferous vegetables, fiber, and probiotics. Fiber, in particular, binds to arsenic, cadmium, and aluminum, making it easier for your body to flush the toxins out.
