Is This Bathroom Habit Triggering CANCER?
It’s always a good idea to reduce your exposure to toxic chemicals.
This can include things like ditching the Roundup to kill weeds in your yard or replacing your bathroom cleaner with natural solutions like vinegar and essential oils.
But as you’re making the switch to a “cleaner” lifestyle, I’m guessing you never considered tossing your toilet paper.
Well, you will after reading about this disturbing study.
Recent investigations have uncovered a terrifying truth about toilet paper.
Toilet paper contains toxic “forever chemicals” that can increase your risk of cancer.
In a recent study, scientists identified substances in TP called diPAPs (or perfluoroalkyl phosphate diester).
These chemicals run the risk of morphing into PFOA (perfluorooctanoic acid), which is known to be potentially carcinogenic.
PFOAs fall under the heading of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAs), toxic chemicals ALREADY linked to cancer.
What inspired the researchers to see if TP carried these forever chemicals?
The fact that PFAs are found in the solid waste that comes from water treatment plants.
In the US, the numbers are relatively low… just 4 percent of the diPAP in sewage systems was from toilet paper.
But that number was much higher in Europe, where safety standards are different than in the US.
For example, 35 percent of the chemical in Sweden was from TP. And in France, it was 89 percent!
But I found this study timely because I recently wrote about another toxic chemical in toilet paper tied to benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH).
If you’re concerned about prostate enlargement or dealing with lower urinary tract symptoms like urgency and frequency, you’ll want to read this one.
What I’ve personally learned about regular toilet paper has me using alternatives—and I hope it will for you, too.
