Don't Touch Another Strawberry Until You Read THIS!
If you’ve ever had a freshly picked, vine-ripened strawberry, you KNOW there’s nothing quite so juicy with a delicious burst of flavor.
And you ALSO know that the imposter strawberries sold in grocery stores are bland and tasteless in comparison.
They barely deserve to be called strawberries.
But a recent study showed that these strawberries are missing MORE than just their flavor… they’re missing many of the vital nutrients that make them so good for you.
And you’ll never guess the culprit…
I love that the same compounds that make fruit so enjoyable to eat are ALSO what makes them so good for you. But this also means that when the flavor is missing… so are many of those nutrients.
And do you know what is robbing the plants of BOTH?
Pesticides.
In a recent study, researchers found that certain fungicides designed to disrupt the cellular processes of fungi had some “surprising” side effects. They can cause collateral damage to the compounds that produce the taste and nutritional content of strawberries.
The researchers tested two common fungicides used on strawberries: boscalid (BOS) and difenoconazole (DIF).
They grew three different batches of strawberries in identical conditions and applied BOS and DIF to two of the groups. The third group received no treatment.
All of the strawberries looked identical, but that’s where the similarities ended.
The strawberries sprayed with pesticides had LESS soluble sugars, such as sucrose, and fewer nutrients, like vitamin C.
Even worse, some of the sugars that were still present ended up being converted into acids in the mature fruit—making them even less sweet.
A closer look revealed that BOS, in particular, directly impacted genes involved in the cellular pathways responsible for producing sugars, volatile compounds, nutrients, and amino acids.
So it shouldn’t be surprising that in a blind taste test, people consistently chose the pesticide-free strawberries.
Worse than robbing your strawberries of flavor and nutrients, pesticides are linked to health problems like cancer, heart disease, and birth defects.
Choose organic strawberries for BENEFITS you can see, smell, and taste.
Better yet, wait until strawberry season and choose organic strawberries from a local farm.
Your tastebuds will definitely know the difference. But so will your body.
P.S. An alarming study spotted one of the most notorious cancer-causing chemicals in 80 percent of the urine samples tested. Fortunately, you can take steps to avoid this poison and stay safely in the 20 percent. I’ve got all the details RIGHT HERE.
