Simple Hacks to Boost an Aging Brain
You don’t have to have a memory-stealing brain disease like Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s to experience the effects of an aging brain.
The good news is memory slips and attention dips AREN’T inevitable as you age.
What you include in your diet can significantly affect how your brain functions.
And don’t worry. I’m NOT going to tell you that have to eat broccoli every day.
In fact, one of the BEST foods to boost your memory and brain health is a delicious treat most folks would NEVER turn down.
Flavanols are a chemical found in healthy foods like grapes, tea, and the mouth-watering cocoa behind your favorite dark chocolate bar.
Fortunately, increasing your flavanol intake can boost your memory.
Researchers recruited 3,500 volunteers to take a daily flavanol supplement or a placebo. They were then followed for three years to see if the supplement had any impact on memory.
The participants were assigned scores at the start of the study using the Alternative Health Eating Index (aHEI), which evaluates you based on certain dietary factors.
Ultimately, those who saw the BIGGEST improvements in their memory were the folks with the worst diets (and the lowest aHEI scores) to begin with.
They attained a “sustained improvement in memory,”—which means their memory got better… and STAYED better.
Naturally, those volunteers whose aHEI scores were higher to start with didn’t see the same improvements.
In other words, if your diet is already loaded with flavanols, you don’t need a supplement to boost your memory. You’re already getting the benefits.
But if your diet could use some improvements, by all means, add in a flavanol supplement like the one the study authors used. In this case, it was 500 mg of cocoa-based flavanols.
However, a BETTER way to get these memory benefits is to eat more flavanol-rich foods like berries, tea, or delicious dark chocolate.
You’ll have to eat remarkably little to reach 500 mg of flavanols. In fact, 1 mug of tea, 6 squares of dark chocolate, and a few servings of berries or apples together would give you all you need.
P.S. Taking steps to boost your heart health doesn’t have to mean eating like a rabbit or running like a hamster. In fact, FLAVANOLS can help there too. CLICK HERE for the scoop.
