BOOST Your Breast Cancer Therapy WITHOUT Drugs!
“You have breast cancer.”
Those four words can rock your world.
But I’ve found that once women hear them, they become laser-focused on doing whatever it takes to become a survivor.
And that just a whole lot easier.
New research has found a new weapon that can help you WIN the cancer battle.
It’s a non-drug, non-toxic method that could safely BOOST the effects of the most common breast cancer treatment.
I often talk about the health benefits of fasting. New research has added another big one to the list:
It could help boost the effectiveness of one of the most popular breast cancer treatments.
Hormone therapy drugs are effective in hormone receptor-positive tumors because they block the cancer cells from getting the hormones they need to grow.
Studies done in mice found that a fast-mimicking diet – where you restrict calories for a period of days –reduced three key factors involved in cancer growth: blood insulin, insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF1), and leptin.
Mouse studies have shown that these actions can…
- Boost the effectiveness of the cancer hormone drugs tamoxifen and fulvestrant—which means helping shrink tumors—and
- Reduce the tumors resistant to them.
In two small clinical trials, women with hormone-receptor-positive breast cancer receiving estrogen therapy along with cycles of a fasting-mimicking diet also experienced reductions in insulin, IGF1, and leptin.
IGF1 and leptin stayed low for extended periods. This is noteworthy, since mouse studies have shown that reducing these factors for long periods are associated with long-term anti-cancer activity.
In another recent trial by the same scientists, following a fasting-mimicking diet appeared to increase the effectiveness of chemotherapy in 129 breast cancer patients.
Some of the women followed fasting-mimicking diets on monthly cycles for up to two years without any problems.
More research needs to be done, but at this point, fasting appears to be safe way to boost breast cancer treatments.
One of the lead researchers called fasting “the non-toxic wildcard for cancer treatment.”
It’s certainly something worth discussing with your doctor.
