Lower Your Risk of Respiratory Infection by 42%?!
Dear Reader,
Respiratory infections can range from annoying and uncomfortable (nasal congestion, runny nose, sneezing) to serious (bronchitis and pneumonia).
The SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus that’s sweeping the globe is an example of a family of viruses that cause respiratory illnesses.
And it’s a prime example of how respiratory infections can range from barely noticeable to deadly.
Now, respiratory infections are more likely to spread in cold weather when people are more likely to spend time indoors
But even as we head into spring and summer, you’ll want to ramp up your body’s defenses against respiratory illnesses — especially since COVID-19 is still lingering.
And I’ve got the perfect way to do it…
The best protection against respiratory illness is the same no matter what time of year:
Load up on vitamin D.
This isn’t necessarily “new” news…
In fact, a study published a few years ago looked at data from 25 controlled trials of vitamin D supplementation and respiratory infections.
The results showed that supplementation with vitamin D helped protect against acute respiratory infections.
But it get’s better…
More recently, the researchers updated their analysis with 18 additional studies that have been published since their original analysis.
The current meta-analysis published in The Lancet Diabetes and Endocrinology included 43 randomized, controlled clinical trials with nearly 49,000 people.
This study CONFIRMED that vitamin D is extremely effective at helping prevent respiratory infections!
People taking a daily dose of 400-1,000 IUs had a 42 percent lower risk of infection.
Interestingly, these doses from were more effective than higher doses, which shows that when it comes to vitamin D, MORE is not necessarily BETTER.
Obtaining optimal levels for YOUR body is what’s best.
Don’t just guess — get a blood test.
Ideal levels are 60 ng/mL and above.
One more thing.
You might be wondering if this study indicates that vitamin D can help prevent COVID-19.
While this study didn’t answer that question specifically, others have. And what they’ve consistently shown is that people with serious cases of COVID-19 — and those who have died from it — are much more likely to be deficient in vitamin D.
Yet another reason OPTIMIZE your levels.
You can do that by spending plenty of time in the sun. And if you need to, take a vitamin D supplement.
P.S. Another great way to defend yourself against respiratory infections is to ensure that your immune system is in tip-top shape. Click here and read about my 4 key immune boosters to rev up your immune system.
