4 Fat-Burning Nutrients TORCH Belly Fat
Don’t look now. But we’re technically only a few weeks away from New Year’s… and New Year’s resolutions.
But why wait until January to get a kick start on shedding stubborn belly fat?
By making a few minor changes now—BEFORE the Thanksgiving pies and Christmas cookies start piling up—you can boost your fat-burning and help shed a few pounds.
I want to state right up front that there’s no single quick fix for losing weight.
Many factors, including sleep, stress, gut health, diet, exercise, and circadian rhythm, impact your metabolism—and specifically influence the accumulation of belly fat.
But some nutrients CAN give you a little extra help as you work on bigger lifestyle issues.
I’ll share five of the best with you today.
Green Tea
Green tea is known for its high antioxidant content. It’s typically associated with health benefits like improved brain function.
But it is a beast against belly fat as well.
Green tea has shown to increase fat burning and boost metabolic rate.
In animal studies, taking green tea extract combined with exercise reduced insulin resistance and fasting blood glucose levels in mice fed a high-fat diet.
Caffeine
The caffeine in your morning coffee can do more than enhance your energy and attention… it can also boost your metabolism.
Anyone who drinks coffee knows it’s stimulating. When caffeine stimulates your nervous system, it sends signals to your fat cells, instructing them to break down fat.
In one study, people who drank four cups of coffee daily lost four percent of their body fat. Another study showed that just ONE cup per day was all it took to reduce fat—and lose weight.
Protein
Getting plenty of protein in your diet isn’t just about maintaining muscle mass.
Protein also helps control blood sugar levels, reduces body fat, and helps you feel fuller longer.
In one study, consuming a high-protein diet (35% of total calories) decreased total body fat AND that dreaded belly fat.
Fiber
Getting plenty of fiber in your diet is good for managing blood sugar, reducing hunger, and burning fat.
So it’s no wonder high-fiber diets help prevent type 2 diabetes and heart disease while controlling weight.
Belly fat, in particular, has been tied to hypertension, heart disease, diabetes, and more. So while it’s nice to see the scale go down, it’s even better to see your risk of these diseases drop.
P.S. Believe it or not, eating one of the fattiest foods on the planet has been linked to reduced risk for high cholesterol and metabolic syndrome. And according to a recent study, this fat-filled food is ALSO great at shrinking belly fat and helping you to lose weight. Click here for the whole scoop.
