[Shocking!] Taking Glucosamine? Don’t Miss This
Glucosamine has become synonymous with healthy joints.
And for good reason.
Especially when paired with chondroitin, it helps alleviate your joint pain and improve your mobility… even if you have osteoarthritis.
While you might expect a drug to come with a side effect, supplements are less likely to produce them.
But if you’re taking this popular pill, you’ll definitely NEED to know about a side effect just uncovered by a team of researchers.
It could make all the difference when it comes to your heart.
Most side effects are bad, but the one linked to glucosamine isn’t bad at all.
In fact, it’s GREAT.
In a study published in BMJ, researchers looked at nearly 450,000 people between 40 and 69 years old who did NOT have heart disease. 90,000 of them used glucosamine on a regular basis.
Compared with people who didn’t use the supplement, the glucosamine users had an 18% lower risk of coronary heart disease and a 15% lower risk of having had any type of cardiovascular event.
This correlation was found even after the researchers took into account diet, physical activity, smoking, disease history, and other key factors.
A study like this one doesn’t establish definitive cause and effect – just a link.
And it doesn’t look into the “why” behind the connection, either.
But one possible reason is that glucosamine lowers levels of an inflammation marker called C-reactive protein (CrP), and lower levels of CrP are known to lower your risk of heart disease.
Whatever the reason, if you’re going to have to deal with a side effect, I’ll take that kind any day of the week!
You can get glucosamine supplements at your local pharmacy.
